A crash simulator crashed the PS5 charts: BeamNG.drive made October’s top three

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 topping the PlayStation Store in its launch month surprises no one. The more unusual name on October’s chart is BeamNG.drive, a physics sandbox built around bending cars out of shape, which landed in the top three on PS5 in both the US/Canada and EU rankings.
Sony’s monthly list counts PlayStation Store purchases. Here is how the top five PS5 games compared in the two regions:
| Rank | US/Canada | EU |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 | Modern Warfare 4 |
| 2 | BeamNG.drive | EA Sports FC 27 |
| 3 | EA Sports FC 27 | BeamNG.drive |
| 4 | Phantom Blade Zero | Phantom Blade Zero |
| 5 | Madden NFL 27 | Minecraft |

Further down, American football splits the regions: Madden NFL 27 and College Football 27 appear only in the US/Canada top 20, while Europe ranks Minecraft, the co-op climbing game PEAK and Enshrouded higher. On PS4, Red Dead Redemption 2 led both lists, eight years after release, followed by Batman: Arkham Knight in the US and EA Sports FC 27 in Europe.
PS VR2 had a clear winner in Hard Bullet, number one in both regions, with Horizon Call of the Mountain, Beat Saber and I Am Cat close behind. Among free-to-play games, Once Human led in the US and Fortnite in Europe, with Call of Duty Warzone and Roblox in the top four on both sides of the Atlantic.
