Battlefield 6 pulls Platoons and the B-81 Cavalry from its December update

Battlefield 6 players hoping to form clans before the holidays will have to keep waiting. The game’s team says Platoons and the B-81 Cavalry vehicle do not meet its internal quality standards, so both are leaving the December update.

The timing stings. EA’s Season 5 roadmap from October 21 still listed Platoons for Phase 3, right next to the long-requested server browser, and the page now carries a note that it went up before the delay. As Kotaku points out, the feature had been promised since the game’s 2026 roadmap in April.

Platoons are meant to bring back the clan system veterans remember from Battlefield 3. The plan described in October: groups of up to 100 players with a custom name and squad tag, a dedicated menu tab, shared stats and bonus XP for playing in a squad with fellow members. Pulling it barely two weeks after reconfirming it is a hard sell to the players who asked for it.

Season 5 Phase 3 itself still lands on December 8, with a new Operation, reworked versions of the Blackwell Fields and New Sobek City maps and a winter event. The announcement on X does not mention the server browser, which the October roadmap had scheduled for the same update.

Neither delayed addition has a new date. The team only says it will share its wider plans for 2027 shortly after the holidays.
