How we use AI
Last updated: November 6, 2026
Technology helps; the editors are responsible.
What AI does at Virylo
- Monitors official sources and news feeds and groups reports about the same event.
- Prepares first drafts that combine several sources.
- Translates our English articles into other languages.
- Helps with headlines, summaries, image captions and alt text.
What AI does not do
- An AI answer is never treated as a source of facts. Every fact, number and quote must link to a real source.
- AI never invents facts, quotes, witnesses or links. A draft with an unverified claim is not published.
- AI works only with sources from our approved list and within the topics and rules the editors set.
Human review
- Most of our news stories are prepared and published automatically. While preparing a story, our tools take facts only from the sources they read and compare names, numbers and dates with them. Before publication, automated checks confirm that the story cites at least one primary source from our approved list (for film industry news, where deals and castings are first reported by the trade press, Variety, Deadline or The Hollywood Reporter also count, and the story says who reported it), that it does not repeat the wording of its sources, and that it passes format and length checks. A story that fails a check is not published.
- Automatically published stories are labeled as such. The editors review them after publication and correct or remove them when needed.
- Our tools are instructed to set aside controversial reports, allegations and stories that could put people at risk for an editor’s decision instead of publishing them. When in doubt, we do not publish.
- Translations are checked automatically: all numbers must match the original. Corrections to the original are applied to every language.
Transparency
We use AI tools to prepare most of our stories, as described on this page. Every such story says so at the end, next to the list of sources. Stories published automatically say “Compiled with AI tools.” Stories an editor checked before publication say “Compiled with AI tools and checked by our editors.” AI-generated illustrations are always labeled “Illustration created with AI.”
Data protection
Passwords, anything that could identify a source who asked to stay anonymous, and personal data we don’t need never go into AI services.
Responsibility
These rules are ours, and so are the mistakes: the editors answer complaints and fix errors in every story, whether a person or a tool wrote it. Contact: [email protected].
