Tesla sets November 20 for its Argentina launch, but prices are still a mystery

Tesla already sells cars in neighbouring Uruguay, and Argentina is next: the brand’s Latin America account says Tesla arrives in the country on November 20.

The announcement came as a one-minute video with no specs and no prices. A dark Model Y winds through mountain roads, two Teslas pass a “Bienvenidos a la ciudad” sign on a Buenos Aires avenue, and the clip signs off with “Hola Argentina”. The main Tesla account reposted it with a single line: launching in Argentina later this month.

What Tesla has not said is which cars it will sell, at what price and when orders open. According to Ámbito, the Model 3 and Model Y are the likely first models. The groundwork is already in place: a local company, Tesla Argentina S.R.L., was set up in March, Joaquín Lizarralde leads sales for Argentina and Uruguay, and Tesla has held talks with the oil company YPF about fast chargers.

The timing follows a change in import rules. Decree 1128/2026 raised the cap on the FOB value of fully electric cars that skip the 35% extra-zone tariff from $16,000 to $35,000, within a quota of 50,000 EVs and hybrids for 2027. In Uruguay the Model 3 starts at $32,990 and the Model Y at $36,490.

Shipping and local taxes will push those numbers up. Estimates cited by Ámbito put both cars at roughly $62,000 to $65,000 in Argentina, so November 20 is less about the date than about the price list Tesla shows that day.
