Dragon Age writer David Gaider is working on The Expanse: Osiris Reborn’s story

Owlcat’s sci-fi RPG The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, often compared with Mass Effect, now has a writer with deep BioWare roots on board: David Gaider, lead writer of Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age II and Dragon Age: Inquisition, says he has been helping with parts of its narrative.
Gaider shared the news on Bluesky. He still runs his own studio, Summerfall, the team behind the musical RPG Stray Gods, and the Owlcat work comes alongside that, as Eurogamer and PC Gamer point out. He did not say which characters or storylines he has touched.
The Expanse has long been one of my favourite series, and so obviously I jumped at the opportunity to be involved.
David Gaider, founder of Summerfall Studios
His post landed on the same day as a change players asked for. Following feedback from the beta, Owlcat recast the male protagonist: Blythe Melin now voices the male Captain and J, and the default looks of the Martian Captain and his brother have been redrawn, even though the hero can be fully customised. Gaider named the recast as proof of how closely the studio listens to fans.

The timing adds weight. With BioWare shut down and its Mass Effect project gone, the studios still making this kind of space RPG are where its veterans now end up, and Osiris Reborn just gained one of the best known.
The game is listed on Steam for the second quarter of 2027. Owlcat has promised more news soon, without an exact release date.
