Percy Jackson’s third season sends Percy on a quest without Annabeth on November 20

For two seasons Percy and Annabeth have been a package deal. The third season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians splits them up: Annabeth is taken by Kronos’s forces, and Percy has to go after her, with the new episodes arriving on Disney+ and Hulu on November 20.
Walker Scobell felt the gap on set too. Speaking at the D23 fan event in August, in remarks Disney has now republished, he said the absence of his co-star was the strangest part of filming:
I’ve done basically every single scene with Leah since we started the show, and this is the first time she’s just gone for six months.

The season adapts The Titan’s Curse, the third novel in Rick Riordan’s series, and Disney stresses it is the first time that book has been filmed. Percy has to free a goddess in chains and face a prophecy that could bring down Olympus, with Grover (Aryan Simhadri) beside him and some unexpected allies.

The panel offered a few clues. Charlie Bushnell says this Luke sits in a gray area rather than plain villainy, partly because Annabeth spends much of the season with him. Tamara Smart describes Thalia as someone who is never halfway about anything, from anger to grief. Dafne Keen, the new Artemis, says the actors playing her hunters went through a training camp in archery and moving as a pack, which sounds like a fight scene the show is saving for later. Levi Chrisopulos and Olive Abercrombie join as Nico and Bianca di Angelo, and Saara Chaudry plays Zoë Nightshade.
Executive producer Craig Silverstein puts the stakes plainly: the Titans arrive, and this time the gods themselves face destruction. A show that has taken the books one by one now reaches the point where the war stops being background.
