Edge’s new tab page gets a rebuilt news feed with more video and Copilot summaries

Every time you open a new tab in Microsoft Edge, a feed of stories loads underneath the search box. Microsoft has now rebuilt that feed from the recommendation engine up, and says it should surface fresher, more relevant and higher-quality picks than before.

The scale behind it is bigger than most people would guess. Microsoft says the feed draws on 1,500 premium publishers, from USA TODAY to Business Insider and PEOPLE, plus more than 3,500 creators. Video is getting much more room: it already accounts for more than 40% of engagement on the platform, and partners upload over 45,000 videos a day. For a page most people glance at on the way to somewhere else, that is a lot of content.

The redesign splits the page into trending stories, a personalized mix of articles and videos, and deeper coverage of topics you follow. You can follow individual topics and publishers or change the layout in settings. Microsoft is also widening Curated by Copilot, an AI feature that pulls several articles on one subject into a single summary, with links back to the original reporting. Publishers can opt out of these AI features through Microsoft’s Partner Hub.

The same experience appears when you open the Discover dashboard from the Windows taskbar. For now it is limited to desktop users in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia and India. Microsoft plans to add more countries, then mobile, MSN.com and the Bing.com homepage over the coming months.
