Amazon swaps Grubhub for Uber Eats as the food delivery perk for Prime members
Prime’s food delivery perk has changed hands. Amazon has made Uber Eats its restaurant delivery partner for Prime members in the US, ending the Grubhub+ arrangement that began in 2022.
Everything happens inside Amazon: search for “Uber Eats” on Amazon.com or in the Amazon Shopping app, pick a restaurant and check out, with no extra app and no Uber account. Restaurant orders of $25 or more come with a $0 delivery fee, and Amazon estimates a regular user could save more than $175 a year.
Grubhub users are not cut off at once. Ordering Grubhub through Amazon has stopped, but members who already activated Grubhub+ via Prime keep it until December 31, 2027, TechCrunch reports. For Uber, it is one more tie to Amazon, alongside existing deals on cloud computing, Zoox robotaxis and Uber Eats inside Alexa+.
To get people started, Amazon and Uber are taking $20 off each of the first two restaurant orders of $25 or more during the partnership’s first two weeks.
