Chris Pratt returns as James Reece in Savage Son, the next Terminal List series

Amazon is not done with James Reece. Chris Pratt will play the former Navy SEAL sniper again in Savage Son, a new series adapted from the third novel in Jack Carr’s Terminal List books, as Variety first reported and Deadline confirmed on Thursday.
Season or spinoff?
The studio has not called it a third season. Deadline describes Savage Son as a standalone instalment in the same way as the prequel Dark Wolf, while Variety’s sources said it is more likely to stand apart from the main show than to be billed as its next season. Either way, it picks up the story the books tell next. No release window or new cast members have been announced.
What the story is about
In Carr’s novel, Reece is recovering from brain surgery in the Montana wilderness where he grew up when he learns that a rogue CIA officer, now sheltered by the Russian mafia, wants him dead. With a mole inside the US government feeding Russian intelligence, he gathers a team of former commandos and takes the fight to the gangsters on their own ground. Amazon’s description calls the show a mix of military action, espionage and wilderness survival.
“Jack Carr’s work has connected with audiences in a way that speaks to the power of his storytelling and the incredible dedication Chris Pratt and the entire team bring to every episode,” said Peter Friedlander, head of global television at Amazon MGM Studios.
A growing franchise
The Terminal List launched on Prime Video in 2022, based on Carr’s first book. The second season, adapted from True Believer, arrived on October 21, 2026, and Taylor Kitsch led the prequel The Terminal List: Dark Wolf in 2025 as Ben Edwards. Savage Son will be the third series in the universe. It is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, MRC and Civic Center Media.
